according to this interview you can jump into the new levels/campaign without replaying the whole game...it is a separate mini campaign...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_I92B81h ... re=related

which would make it a perfect dlc to me....

there are several other e3 interviews with JC and it seems he is all about VR right now...so it seems this is the focus of the release, besides porting Doom to this gen consoles obviously...

apparently you'll be able to buy a VR set for about 500/600 bucks at release in order to enjoy D3 that way....
sure it must be impressive and very immersive playing the game that way...but tbh...way to expensive for me....I have no interest in a VR set...and I am not going to buy one just for D3...

JC also says in one of the interview that they reworked some of the textures....and that the mounted flashlight is optional.....we will see...

they say they are going to show the new levels at quakecon this year....nothing about D4 though....

Maybe Doom 4 was cancelled and this is just to keep us happy.

I highly doubt Doom 4 to be at Quakecon.

my wishes for D4 is that they release it for the next gen consoles...with no compromises a la rage and with a badass uber PC version :P

this way they would have a similar chance to do something special like they did with D3 in terms of visuals....

:D

How come I've missed that tiny but to me as a multiplayer only guy very important snippet of info ?
What do you guys think, what are the chances the PC version of the BFG edition will include this ?

100% if it is true. They'd surely use the same code on all three platforms.

i don't think it's refering doom 3. classic doom also support 4 player coop.

"....have some form of co-op"

some form....?

"i don't think it's refering doom 3. classic doom also support 4 player coop."

yep I think the same, they didn't mean D3.

but this is just what annoys me ....this pretty much unclear way of promoting it.

I mean they say remaster but then the first shots and the trailer stuff are looking exactly like the original.

they say "some form of co-op" but it's not clear what they really mean...or if they mean D3 or not.

if they introduced real co-op for the campaign (D3) I am sure it would sell a lot more, simply because co-op games are selling good and it would be a real incentive to buy again this version for many people....
but I bet in reality they simply meant the older games and D3 will look the same, have no co-op, and be dumbed down (more ammo, brighter, ductape, autosaves, aka optimized for consoles) on top of that....
really they should have focused on real remastering of the graphics and build a solid co-op experience instead of focusing on consoles and HMD….which only a tiny minority of users will take advantage of anyway….

Actually I don't get why you guys think the coop part is referring to Doom 1+2, since when you follow the provided links in the quotes it says:

@co-optimus.com
Quote:
Thankfully, Co-Optimus has confirmed with the publisher that "Doom 3: BFG Edition" will indeed have some form of co-op. The presence of cooperative multiplayer means we can continue covering the game up through its release and beyond.

@examiner.com

In addition to the new images, Microsoft also revealed a list of multiplayer features for "Doom 3 BFG Edition". The collection will support up to four players in "cooperative" and competitive modes.

The question I guess is how reliable their sources are...

the publisher....the collection.....see it is very vague... publisher could have meant D1/2 as part of the collection.

if D3 would have co-op they would have said so with the reveal trailer....

but hey....quakecon isn't far, it will hopefully be clear by then.

of course I would be really happy if there is co-op in D3 but don't get your hopes up...

If Willits said the sun would set tonight I'd seriously have to double check.

No, but the sun might be lower resolution as Willits would have announced ;)

Agreed, he's let a lot of people down especially with regard to the SDK considering his promises that it would be there on release and suddenly where the hell is it months later? It would be nice if he gave us more information in regard to the SDK himself rather than people having to contact other people at id asking where the hell it is, it just honestly blows my mind...

Willits should have remained a level designer / mapper. If only Romero was still there...

I'm finally starting to lose faith in id. Carmack is brilliant, but I get the impression he does as he pleases. I feel like id is badly organised / managed, and out of control.
