dont know if i can post or ask about this stuff but rumer has it that nvidia or ati leaked the hl 2 techdemo (e3 one i gess)

enny way does enny one you have enny evidence of this actualy hapeing or or not?

and if its not asking to mutch were i can posibly find: the demo or media from it ( screen shoots, unoficial videos ,exetera....)

if not then errrrrr dont worry i'm a noob i dont say nothing ;)

I think that it's probably a good idea not to talk about this stuff. There is no asking where to get the Doom 3 leak, and I'm sure the same will go for HL2. And no I don't know where to get it, and if you can't find it on Kazaa or IRC, then it doesn't exist.

No demo, no leaked beta, just HiRes movies to stare at.
And wait for the SDK to see some stuff about HL², cause it's the only thing that will be available before the game itself.

aparently hl hasnt changed mutch, and i think the engen is praticly the same as it was b4 ( exept that they did a tenebrae with it: perpixel lighting and stuff ) elst its all the same

wht , but its trew... hold on i'll find the article i red about this, and yes i'm in a mod team : the exmorbid team recruted me for there next project : mortal combat for hl2

Just to clarify things:

mac = professional game developer who's doing it for a living
[noob]plonker = a guy who is in his early amateur stages

You both are not fighting in the same league, so picking at each other wont really crown one of you.

But it's fun to watch :)

That article is from May 13th - before we had video footage and for the most part, is total crap.

Sure, you are still going to get models intersecting with each other - it's also present in the Doom3 alpha - I would think that full collision detection is still too taxing on current systems.

Have a look at the hi-res BINK videos to see the sheer beauty of the models, lighting etc. - the shader effects, the level of detail, the physics engine.

To say that the engine is not that advanced over HL1 is ridiculous after what we've now seen.

Sorry, but do you really think this article is serious ?

If it is, then this is the worst Flame-Article ive seen in Ages, obviously written by someone with a certain lack of CLUE.

Sure there are some things in those Shots that arent hi-detail, but you have to understand that Valve is aiming for HL2 to run on not-that-hi-end-hardware as well.

Still im impressed by it and most of the movie-footage has conveyed more atmosphere than most Doom3 Shots to date, imho.

Besides, this "Undetailedness" is a limit that every Modeler/Mapper can push if he sees fit.

Wow - now your treading on tricky ground :)

Watch this years e3 doom3 trailer again - I'd say it's oozing with atmosphere that just begs the question "When will it be done ?"

Heh, yeah maybe its not so good to criticize D3 here ;).

Still thats what i think, how Doom3 will turn out in the end is another story.
Could as well blow HL2 away, who knows ;).

Critisise what you want - it's fair game - we haven't really seen either game yet, imho the alpha leak damaged id softwares "marketing punch" a bit and they have to make up ground on that by remaining tight lipped. (my opinion)

I'm looking forward to both tiles with equal anticipation.

They are different games that will be cool for different reasons.
