The most recent versions of both the importer and exporter are in the first posts of the threads, I update those every time a new version is released.
The comments to that release are in the post on page 4, that's what the link to page 4 is about. When I changed my provider I didn't bother to change all the links in every post I ever made, but changed only the ones in the first post. Sorry for the confusion, I'll edit the first post to be more clear.

You could probably upload the file as an attachment.

I can't get a view model I made to export to md5. Every single time w/o fail it outputs this:
Code:
mesh {
   shader ""

   numverts 0

   numtris 0

   numweights 0
}

The blender console did have some errors (I forgot to weight all my verts), but I fixed those but still no export.

A previous model I made the same way exported just fine. can someone look @ my blend file for me? it's not related to the contest (that one's all set to go) so I'm not worried who sees it.

I even tried importing & exporting the md5mesh I'm basing off of (pistol) & that seems to work fine. But my specific weapon model won't render export at all.

it must be something with the pistol md5mesh file. if I import the shutgun md5mesh & put the custom weapon in that file, it exports just fine.

I am having the same problem as The Happy Friar. I am trying to build a new sword model (shown http://conzar.googlepages.com/sword.png/sword-full;init:.png).

I am able to export the shotgun model from doom3. So what I have tried was to keep the bones, remove the shotgun mesh and then attach the bones to my sword. This method does not work and still produces no meshes from being exported.

Do you have any documentation on what is necessary to export a weapon mesh?

Thanks for your help!

I *THINK* it may of been to me not assinging a bone to a mesh. It only exports mesh's if a bone is attached.

Hum, I have a bone attached and it still doesn't export.
If someone has time, can you checkout my blend file?

Thanks

nope, double checked, no bone for me.

but load up one of the player POV weapons (fists would be useful since you're using a melee weapon) & see what they do. Odds are you can just put your sword in that md5mesh, assign it to the proper bone, export & you're all set.

Your right, it wasn't in that file (I must have uploaded the wrong one).

Can you try it again please?

The exporter seems to be broken on the 'bird' model in the yofrankie assets. I have checked in the model viewer and the mesh looks broken in there too. It looks like some of the vertices have degenerated to the origin.

The file is bird.blend found here: https://svn.blender.org/svnroot/yofrankie/chars/

Can anyone help?

Ian

Found the problem, the model has vertex groups which have no associated bone. A small change to the export script accounts for this:

Code:
                influences = data.getVertexInfluences(face.v[i].index)
                if not influences:
                  print "There is a vertex without attachment to a bone in mesh: " + mesh.name
                # sum of influences is not always 1.0 in Blender ?!?!
                sum = 0.0
                for bone_name, weight in influences:
               # Some models have vertex groups that have no bone (usually mis-spellings).
               try:
                  testbone = BONES[bone_name]
                  sum += weight
               except:
                  continue

I don't know if it's the plugin, but has anyone recently tried to use the exporter on the newest release? The plugin keeps F'ing up my animation in and outside of blender. After the export for example when I'm doing a simple run test animation on the legs only. Then it starts moving the arms up and down in Blender and in the export.

The Vertex groups don't seem to be working properly when I export my model and I run it in my game engine as well..

I tried older pre-made md5 models in my game engine and they work perfectly, fine so the problem is aether the exporter or Blender..

Did I forget something to do with the vertex groups? I did set the faces to be smooth..

Any help would be appreciated. If it doesn't make sense to anyone somewhere along the way let me know and I can upload my character on my website for anyone to test out on their exporter and see what I'm doing wrong.

Idk, if it helps much but this is the results after export:

Yes, I can't view the videos of the bee, because my ISP sucks... I been having internet problems for 3 weeks now with it going on and off when I'm trying to load a web page or a video, but oddly enough I get no problems playing a online Source Game or MMO.

Anyways, is there something I forgot to do after I rigged my character?
