Awesome :) You have done great job. Let me write some comment about map I have just finished.

Music fit perfect - I fell like playing American McGee Alice, it's full of scary sounds that put fear into my heart.

Monsters are also cool, horned hell knight, cacodemons, lost souls, red eye imps fit perfect and look professional.

About level design (most important part) - architecture is great it's very good mix of technology and hell elements. Some small details like ability to turn on lights on start are nice. Weapon/ammo placement is also good, maybe few more health kits will make it bit easier. Monsters placement is also good, fight with them is enjoyable. I do not know why did You use download data screens on some computers while player do not have his pda :( , simple broken or flicking or showing some animated data monitors will be better, some monitors do not have textures :( . It looks like uac scientist arrive into hell set camp and die. I wish to see some more exploration aspect of it - place to storage different sized boxes, place to storage ammo and weapons, place with power generators, place with computers to storage data, maybe some laboratory to study this place - different rooms with different props.

Still it's awesome map, I'm going to play it again :)

IRT Gzegzolka:
I agree with you about those points! I might release an "expanded version" in the future with all those things included. With a Little bit more exploration spice on there ;)

You can do that if You want, if You have time to re-edit it. Maybe I have too much spare time or maybe I like perfection (or both).

Hehe! Well i love perfection but i don't have so much spare time
I could go on forever trying to make it perfect and adding things but it doesnt give the community much so i have to draw a line somewhere unfortunatly.

For me You are already very near perfection. This map is great. Many people from idsoft work on maps in D3 while You design maps by yourself.

There is a really annoying problem with this map. When you go into that first portal, it appears a sound file is missing or referenced incorrectly because then an extremely loud tone type noise keeps playing and never stops.

reloading my save I get warnings for the following files being missing:

sound/dbz2/hell.ogg
sound/electricity/asteriodwind.ogg

I haven't downloaded a custom Doom 3 map in 2-3 years. It's nice knowing that the first one I've downloaded in a long time happened to be worth my time. :) (I mean this one, in case anyone is slow) The new monsters were cool (especially the Pain Elemental), the atmosphere was top-notch, and the opening/ending sequences were fun and thoughtful.

With the exception of the pacing (which felt too slow for my tastes), any other critique I have is just nitpicking and irrelevant crap, so no need to take it seriously. With that said:

- Despite the great atmosphere, I heard what sounded like farting noises during earlier parts of the maps. I'm sure that's not what it was, but still...I got a chuckle out of it. XD
- The levers in the very first big room were difficult to distinguish from the decoration. It took me a while to realize that they actually were switches.
- Was I supposed to be able to free-look during the ending sequence? Or, was that unintentional?

Great work on the map, ZizZ! Maybe someday if I get back into mapping (like after college), I'll have to ask for permission to use those monster variants, because they look awesome. ;)

:( Sorry man i don't really know what's going on there. There is supposed to be an evil voice when you enter the soulcube room but it should end after you grab the cube. Does it happen every time you play it?

Thanks!

Not really sure about the farts :D I went in to check the farts and it might be a fire sound effect i used in the earlier parts!
The free look at the end was intentional. I found it kinda fresh for a credits sequence. :P Not sure if it feels too weird on there?

Cheers!

It's about time ZizZ! I've only been looking forward to this map for 3 or so years ;)

Anyway, I've just come online to find this at 2am, but it's downloaded and I'll fire it up tomorrow night, so the mood's right of course! I can't wait!

Just finished playing and must say, well done zizz!

As I expected there was some seriously cool, imaginative architecture wrapped around a clear, logical layout. Also, I must say, the visual ambiance was second to none and the soul cube section, that was just plain creepy, I loved it. However, I mentioned visual ambiance, this is because I felt that the audio was probably the levels weakest point. Often times it seemed like there was only one or two ambient sources in a room, yet there were plenty of objects you would expect to emit some kind of sound, the rooms never truly felt alive due to this. Also, some of the enemy encounters were quite cool, but I felt that the difficulty curve plateaued early on and didn't really ease off or get more difficult until the very last battle. Maybe I'd suggest that a sequence like the berserk should come later in the level.

Overall I thought it was a really good, fun level, and if it sounds like I'm being too niggly, it's only because so much of the level was great that the few flaws it did have really stood out to me. Another thing that might be worth trying in the future would be to get some more use out of the areas you made. Generally the player made a b-line from entry to exit of each room, where some places really could have held them there for longer. The final area with the two switches was a great example of letting the player move around a bit within the area and getting good value out of your playspace, however the spiral room was just begging to get some more use!

Anyway, onto the next map zizz, I'm already waiting :)

I know I'm kind of late with this, but here goes:-

This level would be solid, if it wasn't for the awful decision to mix and match tech themes with hell themes. I'm not totally against the idea of using a few textures from the /hell directory in a map that otherwise consists of non-hell textures and models, but it honestly feels like assets have been picked out of a hat and then thrown together in a completely nonsensical way. There's some lovely architecture going on that's being ruined by this, and it's the biggest problem I have with this map which is otherwise an enjoyable enough play.

Whether the haphazard aesthetic theme of the level gets explained or not, it just looks weird and wrong imho.

Fair enough :)

I figured that design decision might end up to be awkward to some people.
I found it intresting to mix up the textures in a way it creates a very unique and cool look imho.

Also i was bored of either tech and hell so mixing them "cleverly" was my only solution. (excluding creating my own textures)

Anyway, you cant argue with taste. Thanks for checking it out! Next one i might avoid weird blends :)

Cheers!

Well I enjoyed the level and as a fellow mapper I couldn't care less about the hell/tech thing. I want results! This map has provided all the results I need for an enjoyable experience. I particularly had a lot of fun with the elevator transition scene. But there was one problem (for me) regarding the soundtrack. I think the sound guy needs more practice trying to get some grinding metal/flesh sound effects going. I agree with the above post, it did sound like farts. I'll give it a 9/10 as I thought the map was a tad bit too linear at times.

Anyway, it's great to see that people are still producing quality maps for Doom 3. It gives me great encouragement for my own projects. Thanks ZizZ

Great map! :)
