Im trying to test q4 out on my new pc with ubuntu and Im having troubles with the .run installation file. I run it trough terminal and get to the part where I have to assign a path where it will be installed, it gives the default path /usr/local/games/quake4demosomething and when I accept it I get a message that I dont have permission to write there. Im still new to linux, could anyone help me with this probably simple problem?

To install it in a system location like that you will need to have root permissions. In ubuntu I believe that means using the "sudo" command. When running the installer, use "sudo q4demoinstaller.run" (or whatever the name of the file is), and then enter the root pw when prompted.

Yeah, that did it! Thanks a lot man, previously I tried the sudo su command to switch to root user and then run it but it didnt worked like that :/
