I found out today, after being a customer for over 10 years with them, that my bank is not only supporting warlords but also the following:

- Overfishing of the seas
- Companies denying that there is climate change
- Companies that have very bad employee rights (e.g. Chinese children working 70 hrs for 10 dollars)
- Weapons deals with 'rebels' in a diverse set of countries, highly questionable, without any transparency
- Companies that do little for employee security
- Companies that do nothing for animal welfare
- Have an extremely questionable bonus policy.

And that was just the tip of the iceberg!
I called them up this morning, to demand an explanation, which of course resulted in a adolescent response from them: 'Oh you shouldn't worry about such things, little man'.. or something to that effect.

After a small search of less than five minutes I found a comparison website for banks that includes this kind of information.
And a few minutes later the changes were made and I am now no longer paying Kalashnikovs to warlords in Africa.

I see it as my duty to urge you to investigate your bank and at make you at least aware of who you are supporting by being a client there.
Does your bank care at all about your future and that of mankind?

The choice is completely yours as is your right to support only those companies that have the welfare of humanity in mind while doing business.

.

All the large banks are nothing but money laundering machines.

-drug trafficking
-war financing
-coup financing
-sex trafficking
-financial raping of countries

Its all there if you want to find it. If there is money to be made, they will do it.

Max Kaiser and Katherine Austin Fitts are very informative about these types of illegal and immoral activities.

The best thing to do is join a local credit union.

(But the climate change thing you mentioned... that's just another tool to control people with fear.)

Actually there turn out to be quite some banks that are not that 'evil' the trick is in finding them, and knowing you have the power to do so.

Let's have a different topic once on the climate change, because I have found that my 4-part logic there is 'unbeatable'.
a) It eliminates the needs to discuss who's at fault or why
b) It clearly dictates humanity has only one choice

But like I said, that's a completely different discussion.

Because unions are happy little fluffy helping elves!

Ok, rant over. :D

Not sure about where you two live, but, for the most part, in my area "town" there's either small local banks (to the local counties), small regional banks (to this site of the state & sides of states adjacent to our side), multinational "local" banks (a bank that deals multinationally but it's branches are all local like the regional banks) and a couple handful of multinational banks (I only know of one HSBC branch around, I assume there's others).

There's no real advantage to a credit union vs a local bank except that the bank doesn't discriminate based on location.

That's something called... "tragedy of the commons." Your bank has little control over that.

Climate change is real and debatable.

I don't like it either, but it's either the children work or they starve when they ban child labor. Or they go into the sex trade.

Does your bank support NATO by chance?

...expendable?

There are a million things we should all donate to, do we have to though?

Like Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, Bear Stearns, City Group type?

To be honest I found an even greater offender. Can you guess?

Climate change is real i'm felling the effects right now on my country, and is affecting our crops and water supply, if the change is man made or not that is another question (but i believe it is).
