Hi all,

I've recently gto back in to Ultimate Doom and Doom 2 in a big way. Back in mid-90s, I had a go at making some basic maps with a free editor called DoomCAD which came bundled on a "PC Attack!" magazine cover disc.

Anyway, so I found http://www.doombuilder.com and downloaded it (excellent editor btw). Is there much id Tech 1 mapping knowledge here? If not, can anyone recommend a good site where I could post up questions and problems I encounter? I had a look here and it looks like sub-forums are just for id Tech 4 and 5.

Anyway, so far so good. Tutorials on Doombuilder's website are getting me going and it's fairly basic after mapping a little using GTK Radiant (for id Tech 3) and Hammer (for a HL2 mod), and my previous hazy experience with DoomCAD must be helping. Also, again, the tool itself is very user friendly so that helps progress too.

The Doomworld forums are a good place to get help with Doom1 editing http://www.doomworld.com/vb/

Thank you. Seems like a very knowledgeable place. I will pursue my Doom mapping :)

Don't forget you can open up the doom 1/2 maps in the editor too. :D

Oh yes - never have done it before, but it's quite exciting (to me at least!) to open up such classic maps and see how they were made. Thanks for the tip.
