Doom3world

I saw some Christmas special the other night (only caught a minute or two) that involved an elf with a gatling gun made of wrapping paper for the barrels.

So I thought "That would be awesome in Doom 3!".

The object is to get all the view wep's done before the 25th for a Christmas morning "present" to players. Who knows!

Here's what I've got so far:


For some reason the gattling body always messes up until I type "reloadimages" in to the console. I haven't nailed down yet why it looks like that (should be green with red outlines on it).

I want to also do a candy-cane pistol, an ornament grenade, present launching rocket launcher, snow ball shooting plasma gun, "Christmas Spirit" soul cube and a tinsel ball launching BFG.

Projectiles are after I do the models. I'm 100% using the existing rig's, it's SUPAH FAST to make weapons that way.

If I was making a map I'd do something different then duct tape and a flash like to be different. Actually, I'm trying to not "rip-off" his mod's weapons. I thought that mod was awesome, loved the ending.

I was thinking of modifying the level scripts to add Santa hats to all the monsters but I wast to do the weapons first.

Newsflash!

Occupy D3W protesters have converged around the South American server farm that hosts Doom3world to protest the latest attempts to merge Doom 3 and Christmas.

The (primarily) Christian fundamentalist crowd went on record to say that this unholy endeavor would bring about the apocalypse.

Doom 3 luminary Goliathvt said in a statement to the press:

"When considering the number of things that would need some sort of holiday decor in Doom 3, it would probably be best to create a couple of Arrays and create an SDK interface to automate the process. You could have a list of Christmas hat SKIN definitions that you would procedurally apply depending on the size and weapon characteristics of the monster..." (He then continued to spell-out 3 pages of code nuance...)

When questioned, John Carmack would only reply: "Christ! I'm sorry about the blurry textures alright!?! It was an engineering trade-off. You people are vultures!"

Rich_is_Bored was seen asking members of the crowd if they would like him to "prove" the existence of an afterlife.
